Tween Bedroom Makeover November 15 2016, 0 Comments

We recently had the opportunity to make over a tween's bedroom.  Our Brief was to make it Beachy using Aqua and Natural Materials.

Working on a budget a High/Low approach was our direction. High/Low being some Key Pieces we spent a little more on and then finished the look with affordable chain store accessories...

Our tween already had a vision for the bed linen which narrowed down what we could find and was our high end piece along with the side tables. The bed linen was purchased from Bed Bath n Table .

With the bedlinen already decided on our next mission was to create a Rustic Cool Bedhead. With some reclaimed timber and a style picked, a handy (husband) man got to work creating it and we are thrilled with how it turned out! With the timbers running vertically helped create a relaxed pallet vibe.

As the brief was a coastal feel Art was the perfect way to bring the ocean in...! Rather than the more traditional beach look we wanted to have a modern take on it and this beach areal shot Art Print "Bondi Rescue" by Daydrift was perfect. Found on Society6 at a reasonable price for the size and arrived quickly. When ordering your affordable art prints it's a great idea to check out what size frames are available to you that you can get your hands on easily. Kmart, Target and IKEA all have a great range of styles and sizes. We grabbed this one from KMart.

Bedside tables we were lucky to have playing room with as storage was not required so two round Scandi inspired tables we found on sale at Adairs were perfect and the colour was in keeping with the Theme.

The bedside lamps needed updating as the existing ones were two different styles and one being a task light belonging to the study desk... so again the hunt was on for something to contrast with the white walls to add interest and on budget. After some investigation these Brass Lamps from Target were perfect and the finish of them looks top quality (definitely something we keep in mind when budget shopping) which we were happy about.

A little potted cactus which thrives on neglect was a market stall purchase by the tween and we found this sweet two toned green and white ceramic pot from Few and Far Berry which compliments the colour scheme and the perfect catch all for those bits and pieces....

Rugs..... can be expensive for large sizes and this tiny rag rug was way too small for this space.. being this is a child's room something affordable and hardy was needed. After searching around we found KMart's natural and charcoal chevron rug that ticked all boxes!

We decided on Grey as an accent colour for the throw cushions. The larger fluffy cushion was a Target find and the quilted smaller cushion and battery operated fairy lights were a KMart score!

So our tween was super happy with the result and will see quite a few years out with this look.
